About PantherSoft
PantherSoft is part of a diverse team of application and web developers, web designers, business analysts, systems administrators and business intelligence developers within FIU’s Division of Information Technology. The PantherSoft Team, which is comprised of PantherSoft application support teams and Enterprise Web Services (EWS), designs, develops and deploys solutions and technologies for PeopleSoft Student-Campus Solutions, Financials, Human Resources, MyFIU, Business intelligence & Analytics, Board of Governors Reporting and FIU Mobile, as well as maintaining a large portion of FIU’s web environment.
In addition to these services, the team maintains and supports FIU’s document imaging system ImageNow/IntelliCapture and other third-party enterprise systems used by a variety of divisions and departments within the University. Our goal is to facilitate FIU business processes and improve services rendered to students, faculty and staff through our distributed electronic platforms.

Leadership Team
Carlos Varona
Assistant Vice President – Enterprise Applications & Web Services
Carlos Varona began his 21+ year in IT as a technical implementation consultant for PeopleSoft North America before working for PeopleSoft and Oracle in South America as a Technical Consultant, Resource Manager, and Implementation and Program Manager. Since coming to FIU in 2005 as an Assistant Director, he has led the technical PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Team, FIU Mobile/MyFIU Team, and spearheaded the implementation of Panther Degree Audit, Academic Redesign, FIU Mobile, PantherSoft Human Resources and FIU’s first business intelligence application.
Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University.
Saul McClintock
Assistant Director – Enterprise Web Services
Saul McClintock has been working in IT for over 20 years. He joined the PantherSoft team in 2009 as Assistant Director of Enterprise Web Services (EWS), managing a team of web designers and developers.
Saul holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, and Master of Science in Management of Information Systems from FIU.
Eduardo Monteiro
Associate Director – MyFIU, FIU Mobile & PantherSoft Campus Solutions
Eduardo has over 16 years of experience in IT. He started his career as a software developer and research assistant at the School of Computing and Information Sciences, working on high performance computing and telecommunications systems. In 2006, he joined PantherSoft as an Application Developer, later transitioning to Lead Developer and Application Manager. Currently in the role of Associate Director, Eduardo manages the Campus Solutions, MyFIU, and FIU Mobile applications. He has also taught Operating Systems, Networking, and Cybersecurity to undergraduate IT students as an Instructor at the School of Computing and Information Sciences since 2008.
Eduardo holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Computer Science from FIU.
Larisa Goldberg
Associate Director – PantherSoft Financials/Contracts & Grants
Larisa leads the team of 10 highly-qualified individuals, comprising of technical analysts and developers. She has 24 years of experience supporting various PeopleSoft applications, such as Financials, Grants, Human Capital Management, Customer Relationship Management, etc. Prior to joining FIU, Larisa worked as a consultant at Miami-Dade County’s Enterprise Technology Services Department. Mrs. Goldberg moved to Miami over 14 years ago from Chicago, where she held various positions, leading and supporting PeopleSoft implementations. Larisa completed her high school and graduated from college with Business Administration degree in the Ukraine. Upon moving to the United States, Larisa completed DePaul University Computer Career Change program and obtained her initial qualifications as a programmer in 1990.
Jairo Lagos
Assistant Director – PantherSoft Human Capital Management
Jairo has over 20 years of experience in IT. He started his career at FIU in 2003 as a web developer. He began working with PeopleSoft in 2005. In 2007 he began working with ADP HR system in a technical supporting role. In 2010 he led the migration effort from ADP to PeopleSoft HR, eventually transitioning to lead developer and application manager for PeopleSoft HCM.
Jairo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from FIU.
Antonio “Tony” Rodriguez
Assistant Director – Database Management Systems
Antonio “Tony” Rodriguez has more than 27 years of IT experience in Oracle database design, development and management. Tony joined FIU in 2014 from the City of Miami to manage the PantherSoft ERP environments and Oracle databases. Tony is an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
Tony has a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from AIU.
Srinivas “Krishna” Popuri
Assistant Director – PeopleSoft System Administration
Krishna started his career in PeopleSoft application development in 2000 and has more than 18 years of working experience both as administrator and developer in the area of Information Technology. Mr. Popuri joined Florida International university as Senior PeopleSoft Developer in 2004, and has held additional roles within PantherSoft, including Lead PeopleSoft Administration and Assistant Director of PeopleSoft System Administration.
Krishna has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, as well as Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
Talel Issa
Assistant Director – Business Intelligence/Data Analytics & BOG Reporting
Talel began working at FIU in 2002 while a student at FIU. He held a variety of positions and Application Developer during the project implementation. For several years he worked on PS development, conversions, interfaces, customizations and upgrades related to Campus Solutions. He then spent many years analyzing, extracting, transforming and troubleshooting data from every PantherSoft system to meet the complex and ever-changing reporting needs of the BOG (Board of Governors), a crucial component to FIU’s funding. His institutional, functional and technical knowledge helps him now lead a team that manages data warehousing/business intelligence applications and BOG related processing and support at FIU.
Talel holds a Bachelor of Science degree from FIU.
John Vargas
Assistant Director – PantherSoft / Perceptive Content (ImageNow) / Brainware
John Vargas has sixteen years’ experience in managing Campus Community and deploying Enterprise Content Management solutions for the University.
John has expanded Perceptive software, and integrated document handling, workflow and electronic forms with our current ERP application, PeopleSoft. The resultant streamlining of processes benefits the University in both time and cost. Our team currently provides integration solutions to over thirty departments.
John designed and managed an automated approval process exclusively dependent on external eForms which is currently being implemented in HR, Controllers, Foundations, Graduate Admissions and Information Technology. He also designed and managed the creation of the University Student Upload Portal and built out Fujitsu 7100 Network scanner’s SDK for front end document collection at our OneStop student service counters.
John implemented Brainware for the Office of the Controller’s Accounts Payable department and he designed and managed the Unencumbered Invoice eForm process that directly feeds into PeopleSoft Financials via Voucher Build.
John received his bachelor’s degree from University of Florida and his Master’s in International Business from Florida International University.

MyFIU
MyFIU is your online portal where you can manage your personal information and class schedule at FIU. Since MyFIU is web-based, you will have access to your account 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The only exceptions are for any scheduled maintenance activities and/or upgrades to the System.
Human Resources
Supporting the end-to-end human resources business processes of the University. Including payroll, recruitment, employee self-service and much more.
Financials / Contracts & Grants
Supporting and creating a flexible, robust financials management system that allows for key business processes to be directed efficiently. PantherSoft Financials supports all financials and grants capabilities, integration to other key administrative and research applications.
ImageNow / IntelliCapture
The University’s document imaging and document workflow approval systems. The ImageNow/IntelliCapture systems support processes within Human Resources, Admissions, Financial Aid, Business Finance and many other departments.
BOG Reporting
An integral function supported by the technical staff of PantherSoft: the analysis, development and submission of Florida Board of Governor and institutional performance reports and metrics.
Student-Campus Solutions
Online capabilities that facilitate administrative and academic business processes within the University, and allow students to have easier access to their records and information through self-service capabilities.
FIU Mobile
FIU’s official mobile solution: FIU Mobile puts key academic functions for students, faculty and staff all in a single mobile app. The academic calendar, news and events from FIU, access to MyFIU and a host of other features are placed right at your fingertips. FIU Mobile is available through the App Store, Google Play or your smartphone or tablet browser at m.fiu.edu.

FIU’s Business Intelligence & Analytics platform supports operational and strategic reporting as well as analytics and reporting for academic and administrative units.
