Does
everyone have to get trained?
No. Only people who will require access to data in PantherSoft will be trained.
Your department head will assess who needs to receive training and will work
with the PantherSoft training team to schedule a session. It is important to
note that users who have been identified as needing access to the system will
not be granted access until training has been completed.

When
do I get trained?
In order to receive training, you first need to be identified as a future PantherSoft
user by your department head. After that, you will be contacted for one or more
training sessions, depending on the date that your department will begin using
PantherSoft as well as your role using the system.

Do
I need any technical skills to understand the new PantherSoft system?
PantherSoft training assumes a basic comfort level with navigating through the
Internet and using Windows; therefore, users must have basic PC and Internet
skills.
Individuals
who are unsure of their technical skill level are encouraged to contact the
UTS Training Center for an assessment. You can visit the UTS Training Center’s
website at http://uts.fiu.edu,
for a list of regularly scheduled training sessions, and to register on-line
for a class; classes such as PC Fundamentals and Internet Explorer are available
to enhance your skill level.

Who
will train me on PantherSoft?
FIU has hired experienced PantherSoft trainers to train everyone who will be
using the new system. PantherSoft trainers have been working closely with the
functional areas to understand their business processes and to delineate how
PantherSoft will execute and enhance these processes. Therefore, they will be
able to help you in any way possible. Also, training sessions may include training
partners from the various departments, who will enhance PantherSoft training
classes through a functional perspective of the topic at hand.

What
if I forget how to do something after the training class?
After you have gone through training, there will be dedicated support staff
that will provide refresher courses, call center assistance and open labs to
assist you in every way possible. Each class also includes a manual. This manual
outlines the basic information about the PantherSoft pages and step-by-step
instructions for the most common processes you will use. There will also be
a suite of online resources to facilitate your use of the new PantherSoft System.

Are
PantherSoft training classes hands-on?
Some classes are hands-on and will be conducted in the PantherSoft Training
Lab Facility. These sessions are generally for users who will primarily need
to use the PantherSoft System to complete their daily job functions. Other classes
are not hands-on and may be conducted in a more auditorium-style facility with
PowerPoint presentations. These sessions are generally focused on instructing
users on where to find information in the PantherSoft System.

Are
PantherSoft training classes free?
Yes. There are no costs to you or your department for attending a PantherSoft
training session.

Do
I need to fill out any forms before I get trained?
Yes! Please complete the Confidentiality
Agreement Form and the Panthersoft Security
Access Form. After completing the forms, please send the originals to the
Panthersoft modular (ADM 111) via inter-office mail or present it at the time
of your scheduled training class.

Where
are the PantherSoft modulars (W10B and W10C) located?
The PantherSoft modulars are located west of the Golden Panther Arena. If you
drive pass the Children's Creative Learning Center heading West, it will be
on your right hand side. Another way to find the modulars is to use the CSC
building as reference; the modulars are located to the North of the CSC building.
